Description: This program is a community based collabrative effort to address individuals and their families in regards to truancy. It exists to partner with youths and their families and asssist schools in achieveing school attendance and / or completion through alternative methods. The program utilizes shared information from all community partners and stake holders to prevent duplicitous efforts and maximize intervention efforts. The focus is on assistance towards compliance rather than punitive or restrictive action. For success the program relys on cooperation from community partners.

How Program is Funded: Intially the program was developed through a hard working administrator at the city school level. Her vision was to take the program to the community level, by incoroprating all schools and essentially handing it off to a community liason. The current program consists of a 1/2 time staff member who is funded in part by city schools, county courts and adult parole and probation. Efforts are being made to receive grant monies to obtain secure funding for the future.
Evidence of Effectiveness: Internal evaluation in progress, Internal evaluation completed, Preliminary results available (includes draft papers, powerpoint presentations, etc.), Final evaluation report available

How do you know your program is effective: Statistics tell us that we are effective in approximately 75% of the youth we deal with. Recognizing that our measuring stick will likely never reach 100%, we work toward increasing that percentage and are seeing evidence of practices working with more individuals as the work increases.
