Description: The Butler County Truancy intervention Program (TIP) contracted by Butler County CYS and Juvenile Probation, will be a comprehensive K-12 program utilizing proven researched programming. • In the K-5 years Alt-Vision will introduce the “Second Thought Program” which will focus on Self-Esteem and Character building (also included are: decision making, peer pressure and accepting diversity skill sets). • In The Middle School years Alt-Vision will focus our attention on researched proven Bully-Prevention and Alcohol and Drug awareness programming that will include hands on activities throughout the school year , as well as, school awareness campaign , yearly teacher in-service training with the most current research and strategies. • In the High School years a Community Mentoring Program will be implemented and will be partnering with The Mentoring partnership of SW Pa. This program  

How Program is Funded: Combination of State/County/Local, Private Grants and private donations. 
Evidence of Effectiveness: Internal evaluation in progress, External evaluation in progress, Preliminary results available (includes draft papers, powerpoint presentations, etc.)  

How do you know your program is effective: Our pilot program in the Pittsburgh public schools showed significant signs of success. Both qualitative and quantative data were recorded. We posted the following outcomes over the past 2 years: Per client average 18.5% increase in cumulative school year attendance (average client school year attendance PRIOR to program: 65-73% clients averaged 7% increase in cumulative school year academic letter grades. reduced the failure rate of 9th graders by 17%. 82% of clients were successful

What has not worked in the program any why: *getting schools to have a consistent attendance policy and what is a acceptable excused absence.
