Description: Our program provides schools with the training and resources that are required to implement an effective parent outreach program. Research shows that when schools provide parents with the information they need to become a partner in the student's academic success, student achievement accelerates and truancy decreases. For a minimal cost, schools have access to a database of articles on parenting, books for recreational reading, and activities that parents can do with their child to support the classroom. The program is targetted for grades K-8 in math, reading, science, and language arts.

How Program is Funded: Funding is provided through the school programs under NCLB including Title I, ELL, IDEA, Adult Education, Migrant Education, etc. Corporate funding, as well as funds from private foundations, is available.
Evidence of Effectiveness: Internal evaluation in progress, External evaluation in progress

How do you know your program is effective: Research compiled over 30+ years from a variety of independent educational research organizations shows that when parents are involved in their children's academic programs and support the educational system (school and teacher), student achievement accelerates. At the same time, absenteism and truancy decline, discipline problems abate, and dropout rates decline.

What has not worked in the program any why: We have found that it is a paradigm shift for schools to embrace the idea of having parents involved as a partner in the academic process. Many educators and school administrators have experienced "the obnoxious parent" and are not anxious to take the initiative to reach out to the home community. On the other side, we have also found that many parents had a less than successful experience when they were in school and are wary of interfacing with the school system. We help to bridge the gap.
