Description: The purpose of the Educational Advocacy Initiative is to intervene with court involved youth on an educational level by providing advocacy services for the youth and their families in relation to educational programming and placement at the local school level.  

How Program is Funded: The program was initially funded through a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant. The Educational Advocate position has been officially institutionalized within the Fulton County Juvenile Court and is funded through county government.  
Evidence of Effectiveness: Internal evaluation completed, External evaluation completed  

How do you know your program is effective: Based on a quasi-experimental research design, the Educational Advocacy program was shown to be effective in reducing recidivism and increasing rates of Child Find. Survey data alos indicate that parents and primary caregivers feel extremely satisfied with the advocacy program and feel increased confidence in their abilities to advocate for their children's educational needs.

What has not worked in the program any why: Since the program came under new leadership in the summer of 2004, the program has experienced no failures.
