TRACK(Truancy Reduction Alliance to Contact Kids)is a program developed & implemented by District Attorney Charles J.Hynes.
The goal is to reduce truancy, daytime crime & youth victimization.TRACK is a collaboration with the NYC Police Dept,NYC Dept of Education,Administration for Childrens Services,Brooklyn Diocese, Community Organizations & parents.
TRACK operates from 7 truancy centers in Brooklyn.Truant students are brought by Police to a TRACK center.A Truancy Counselor assesses the need for support services & makes referrals. Parents are contacted & requested to pickup their child.

How do you know your program is effective: Mayor Giuliani recognized the success of the TRACK program in his State of the City Address on January 13, 2000. At that time, Mayor Giuliani announced the replication of TRACK citywide.
54,280 students have been processed by
TRACK, since 1998. The recidivism rate remains strikingly low at approximately 6%. TRACK has identified approximately 237 runaways since the program began.TRACK identified 88 missing persons, returned these children safely to the appropriate individuals or agencies.
