Description: We provide a comprehensive program for children and adolescants in Horry County. The focus of our program is to deal with the root causes of truancy. We provide counseling for children and families as well as monitoring of academics, attendance, and discipline. We work with our local school district to assist in tutoring and to keep these truants from entering the court system. We will also provide a summer program for some of our students to provide them with positive activities during the summer.

How Program is Funded: Through a grant and by the Wacammaw Center For Mental Health and the State Department of Mental Health
Evidence of Effectiveness: External evaluation in progress

How do you know your program is effective: So far we have kept all but one of our referrals from entering the court system.

What has not worked in the program any why: It has been difficult to maintain a steady flow of referrals because of new truancy SC laws. It has been difficult keeping this program staffed.
